Jenny Kendler maintains a hybrid artistic practice as both a studio artist and an environmentally-minded social entrepreneur.
She is co-founder of the artist website service
OtherPeoplesPixels, and oversees the
The OPP Fund, which gives grants to arts, environmental and social justice organizations.
Kendler is also the co-founder of
The Endangered Species Print Project, which creates limited-edition art prints to raise funds for critically endangered species, which to date has raised almost $10,000 for conservation. She has also participated in numerous collaborative art projects with an environmental activist focus, such as The Center for Biological Diversity's Endangered Species Condoms Project (over 450,000 have been given out nationwide), and the upcoming performative project highlighting California endangered species: "In a Landscape Where Nothing Officially Exists," orchestrated by fellow environmental artist Dai Toyofuku.
She is actively involved in the Chicago arts community and sits on the Executive Board of local favorites
threewalls Gallery and
ACRE (Artists' Cooperative Residency and Exhibitions), and is a member of the feminist art collective
Henbane.
As an artist, Kendlers work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues such at Exit Art (NYC), Mulherin + Pollard (NYC), The Yeosu Art Festival (Korea), Claremorris Gallery (Ireland), The Contemporary Artists Center (Massachusetts), Ellen Curlee Gallery (St. Louis), NorthEastern University (Boston), Kristi Engle Gallery (LA) & Root Division (SF).
She has shown in Chicago at venues including: The MDW Fair, Columbia College's Glass Curtain Gallery, The Post Family's 'Family Room,' estudiotres & Roxaboxen with solo shows at Kasia Kay Art Projects,
Johalla Projects (July 2011) and
ADA Gallery (Nov-Dec 2011).
Kendler is an artist in residence at the studio-based
BOLT Residency from June 2011-2012, and has an upcoming solo show at the BOLT gallery in October 2012.
