The
Japanese Sea Lion is documented to have been driven to extinction by the Japanese commercial fishing industry. The South Korean Ministry of the Environment is currently conducting a search for surviving members of the subspecies, with plans to breed and reintroduce the Sea Lions...if they can be found.
