Whale Bells at the Tarble

Whale Bells at the Tarble, 2023

Hand-blown ombré glass, Miocene-era fossilized whale ear bones, acoustically-tuned cast rubber ear bones, hand-dyed organic cotton rope, patinated brass

For the opening of Who Speaks for the Oceans?, musician Brad Decker created an activation of the bells, wiring them with piezos, which allowed the bells to motionlessly ring out at their own resonant frequency.
